History of the Sussex
Spaniel in Belgium
Adorable Lady of Oldfield, born in 1983, was the first Sussex
Spaniel to be imported into Belgium by the DeVolmolen Kennel. She
became a World Winner as well as Dutch and Luxembourg Champion. From
her was bred, My-Boy de Volmolen who had great influence on Sussex
Spaniel breeding on the Continent. The next sire to influence the
breed was Creswelshaw Trapper of Oldfield imported to Belgium in
1997. The De Volmolen Kennel became the Bournefield Kennel of Leen
Van Genechten.
In 2010 sixteen puppies are born in Belgium and the population is
estimated at 30-35 Sussex spaniëls.
