Breed History Home

The History of the Sussex Spaniel can be found on the Breed History Page.

In the UK the breed is classified by the Kennel club as a Vulnerable Native Breed. Last year’s registrations (2010) were 60 Sussex Spaniels only. The Parent Club for the Breed is the Sussex Spaniel Association (SSA) of about 200 members. The SSA is a very active club, in April is the Annual General Meeting with SSA Open Show. Yearly they organize a Fun weekend, with lots of stuff to do and to learn. Thinking of grooming demo's, hunting demo's etc. etc. In September is always the SSA Championship Show. The SSA Hunting department is organizing hunting-seminars and field trails.
